Finally!! After 2.5 years of assassinations, riots, terrorist attacks and a fake insurgency in a Palestinian camp we're going to be able to defend ourselves.

This is it Bashar, you came to Lebanon to play and now you're going to get burned! You and all your friends with you!!

  3. I really hope that something of value comes of this. However, I don't get too excited when the United Nations claims to have a spine. There is something behind the scenes here that will prevent Justice from being reached.

It's amazing how often this sort of situation comes up in the Middle East.

A situation where there APPEARS to be a choice between:

    1) Doing what is right, or at least justifiable under the circumstances, and in so doing triggering terrorism...

    or:

    2) Just quietly accepting an outcome you know to be wrong, but which will keep the bombs quiet for a little while longer.

  7. anon,

1- We get to know that the Syrians killed him and that no one will actually stand trial and we get the bombs

2- We know that the Syrians killed him and that no one will actually stand trial and don't get the bombs

At the end of the day, if no one will actually be punished whats the point of all the lives that will be lost as a result? Justice is only justice if it is served. Simple pronouncment of guilt won't be justice.

Im not saying I dont want the killers caught. Im just saying that is there will be no real justice done, will the price that we pay be worth it?

For years the Syrians created realities on the ground and we had to deal with the reprecussions. Now we have created the reality on the ground and the Syrians and all their snivelling militiamen (Amal supporters, SSNP supporters, AOUN's supporters, Hizballah's supporters, and all the rest) will have to live with the reality that Lebanon will finally be able to defend itself!!!

Lebanon wins and all of Syria's friends lose!!
